Centro Educativo El Pilón de Bijagua

The El Pilón Educational Center in Bijagua is a school located in Bijagua de Upala, specifically in the community of El Pilón.

It stands out for its preschool classroom and restrooms, built through a collaboration between the community, the school, and the Rural Development Institute (Inder). This infrastructure provides a safe and suitable space for play and educational activities for younger children.

The school was founded in 1960, initially as a makeshift space with a wood and straw hut donated by Carlos Fallas Chacón. Over the years, it has undergone changes, including transitioning to a one-room school due to a declining student population.

The community and the school have worked together with INDER to improve the facilities and provide a better learning environment for the children.
